Saint John - US Virgin Island Holidays Guide & Reviews Resorts, Vacation Rentals, Festivals, Beaches, Scuba Diving
St. John is the place to go to relax and chill out on its world famous beaches such as Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay and Salt Pond Bay.
Originally settled by the Arawak and Carib Indians, St John and the other Virgin Islands were bought by America from the Danish West India and Guinea Company in 1917 and today, are a major tourist attraction with daily cruise ships anchoring in the emerald waters.
Away from the stunning beaches, one of the popular tours is to explore the forests of the National Park which covers around two-thirds of the island. There are many guided hiking walks plus there is mountain biking and horseback riding.
During the evenings, there is a good selection of bars, restaurants and evening entertainment in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay where you'll often find a band playing the steel drums. Mongoose Junction and Wharfside Village are the main places to shop whilst Coral Bay is good if you are looking for authentic island products such as handicrafts, handmade jewelry and silkscreened fabrics.
