Off piste ski guiding & ski touring
To experience the full extent of what Ischgl has to offer, why not try some ski touring. Expert local guides will navigate you around the high mountain trails in safety taking you on an adventure around the Silvretta region and beyond.
The Silvretta mountain range, with 73 peaks over 3000m, lies on the Swiss - Austrian border just south of St Anton. Covered in glaciers such as the Jamtal and Vermunt, makes ski touring this area extra special. And, unlike many mountain huts that are used for overnight stays on long trips, those in the Silvretta mountains are more like hotels with showers and lots of comfort.
Smuggler’s tour
This is a relatively easy day tour for intermediate skiers crossing the border in to the pretty duty-free Swiss resort of Samnaun. Most of the 35km covered are on piste but with some good off-piste possibilities especially off the summit of Palinkopf at 2864m where you have an 8km decent in to Samnaun with 1000m vertical.
Silvretta Classic Ski Tour - 3 days
Whilst there are many variations to the classic route, most tours start by an ascent to Piz Davo Sass from where you ski down to the Heidelberger Hut for your first night. Day 2 can involve a number of different ascents such as the Breite Krone at 3079m before heading to the Jamtal Hut.
As the tour arcs around over the Ochsentaler, over the Vermunt glacier and via the Wiesdadener Hut for another overnighter, the final ascent is the Rauherkopf from where you ski the long trail down to Galtur and get the bus back to Ischgl.
