Ski Amade ski holidays Skiing & snowboarding around the Ski Amade ski resorts
Overview
Ski Holidays in Amade - named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Amade region in the Eastern Alps is a network of 25 villages with 760km of pistes. Together, they form the second largest ski area in Europe after the Dolomiti Superski area in Italy. Salzburg is the main city and gateway to the Amade region with transfers to most ski resorts taking around 40 minutes. Ski Amade sits in the Eastern Alps starting at Salzburg and stretches up to Styria. It includes the mountain ranges of Steinernes Meer, Hochkonig, Dachstein and Tauernkamm which are much colder than their western counterparts being closer to the Siberian winds. So even though the mountains are not as high as the 4000m plus peaks in the French and Swiss Alps, the snow conditions are usually excellent.
