Amade Region in AustriaSki and Summer Holiday Accommodation - Chalets & Apartments
Ski Holidays in Amade - named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Amade region in the Eastern Alps is a network of 25 villages with 760km of pistes. Together, they form the second largest ski area in Europe after the Dolomiti Superski area in Italy.
Salzburg is the main city and gateway to the Amade region with transfers to most ski resorts taking around 40 minutes.
Where is the Amade region
Ski Amade sits in the Eastern Alps starting at Salzburg and stretches up to Styria. It includes the mountain ranges of Steinernes Meer, Hochkonig, Dachstein and Tauernkamm which are much colder than their western counterparts being closer to the Siberian winds. So even though the mountains are not as high as the 4000m plus peaks in the French and Swiss Alps, the snow conditions are usually excellent.

The villages around the Amade region offer apres-ski which can be as lively or as relaxing as you want to make it depending upon which resort you choose to stay in. Mayrhofen is certainly the busiest and has the largest selection of bars, clubs and restaurants.
The other villages are more traditional and probably the best way to describe the après-ski is typical Austrian with Tyrolean style "knees up" evenings which people tend to enjoy.
The amade region is just as busy during the summer as the ski season with so much to see and do for all the family. As well as summer skiing on the glacier, other popular adventures include...
- Mountain biking
- Via Ferrata
- White water rafting
