Saint Sorlin d'Arves is a delightful modern family friendly resort sitting on a plateau at 14270m above the Maurienne valley floor. It is part of the Sybelles ski carousel providing 310kms of lift linked pistes.
The ski resort is not the highest and most snowsure in the Sybelles ski area, but it has a good snow record and you can normally ski into the resort throughout the season. Its a relatively small ski resort when compared to somewhere like Chamonix or Morzine but has everything you need on and off the slopes for a weeks ski holiday including wellness and spa facilties.
Après-ski
Saint Sorlin d'Arves does not have a reputation for a wild apres-ski scene but there are several bars where you won't die of shock when you see the bill plus a nightclub for late night partying. For dining, Saint Sorlin d'Arves offers the full spectrum of restaurants from pizza to fine dining where you can sample some local dishes.

...joined together to form the Sybelles ski carousel, the fourth largest ski area in France with 310kms of linked pistes.
With an annual average of 350 inches of snow and with 70% of the ski area lying at altitudes of over 2000m, the skiing conditions are usually excellent throughout the season which typically starts mid December and runs through to late April.
The pistes in Saint Sorlin-d’Arves are mainly blues and reds that wind around the numerous bowls and lift queues are virtually non existant apart from perhaps a 10 minute wait first thing in the morning when the ski schools.
Beginners
Saint Sorlin-d’Arves has a few beginner slopes but as the blues are gentle and wide, first time skiers will be able to cruise around the local area and get a good feel for the whole ski area in no time.
Intermediate
With 310kms of pistes around the Sybelles ski area, intermediate skiers and snowboarders have plenty of terrain to explore on the large number of blue and red trails linking the various villages in the carousel.
Advanced
St Sorlin D’Arves offers the most challenging skiing in Sybelles with several black pistes and plenty of difficult reds.
Snowboarding
From beginner to advanced, snowboarders will love the long blue and red trails in Saint Sorlin-d’Arves and around Les Sybelles without encountering too many mogul fields. There is also a terrain park in the resort thats well equipped with the usual rails and jumps.
Childcare
Saint Sorlin-d’Arves is a fantastic resort for families and provides good facilities for smaller children. The Ruche creche provides childcare for toddlers aged between 6 months and 3 years and a children's club for those aged between 3 and 12. The ESF ski school and Free Mouse clubs also provide creche facilities.

Our view on Saint Sorlin-d’Arves
Outside of France, Saint Sorlin-d’Arves is relatively unknown which means the immaculate pistes are never that crowded meaning more time is spent skiing as opposed to queuing for a lift. For an authentic ski holiday, we think Saint Sorlin-d’Arves offers excellent facilities and won't cost the earth and is a good option for a ski holiday with plenty of terrain to keep you entertained for a week. Just brush up on your French before you go as there are not many English speakers!
