Zermatt piste map Skiing & snowboarding in Zermatt, Matterhorn

Ski holidays in Zermatt are fun for all levels of skier although intermediates and advanced are certainly in for a treat with high altitude glacier skiing and some of the largest vertical decents in the Alps.

There are 4 main areas in Zermatt:

  • Klein Matterhorn (3883m)
  • Rothorn (3103m)
  • Gornergrat (3089m), and
  • Schwarzsww (2583m).

The Rothorn area is a mecca for experts with some steep, challenging off-piste itineraries as is the 1100m drop from the top of Stockhorn - as always, these routes are best if accommpanied by a guide.

There is also the possibility of skiing in Cervinia so you'll definitely need your piste map to navigate the massive 360km of connected pistes!

Cervinia is a very popular day tour, especially suited to intermediates, staying over for lunch then trying out the long descents through the trees to the pretty village of Valtournenche.

During the summer, Zermatt offers extensive summer skiing on the glacier up to 3899m which is a real treat if you are visiting on your summer holidays!
