How to get to Aviemore
Aviemore is easy to get to whether you are flying in to Scotland or driving. If you want a quick break and do not want to go abroad, ski holidays in Aviemore for a long weekend, a bit of golf or heading down the whisky trail could be the answer.
By plane
Airport transfers from Edinburgh and Glasgow airports by bus takes around 2.5 hours although access to the resort is better from Inverness (40 minutes drive) and Aberdeen (2 hours drive). All the airports have regular bus services direct to Aviemore or you can arrange a private airport transfer or hire a car.
By car
Take the A9 from Edinburgh or Glasgow and head North. Aviemore is about a 2 hour drive and the CairnGorm Mountain car park where you take the funicular is 9 miles from Aviemore.
By train
If you are travelling by train, Aviemore has a main line station with regular trains from Edinburgh, Perth, Glasgow, Inverness. There is also an overnight sleeper from London.
