Hippach ski resort guide & reviews Ski area, apres-ski, things to see & do in Hippach

Hippach is a quiet and tranquil ski resort next door to Mayrhofen. Sitting at 630m in the Zillertal Valley, Hippach is popular with skiers and snowboarders who like to relax and do things at their own pace.

There are a couple of apres-ski pubs and restaurants in the village which get busy especially at the weekends. For a wider selection and lively après-ski, its worth taking the ski bus or taxi to neighbouring Mayrhofen.

Ahorn Mountain

The Ahorn is called the Leisure Mountain and thats because its exactly that. Fantastic views, wide slopes, a Panorama Trail and the igloo hotel White Lounge. It is also the perfect location for beginners and children to try their first turns on skiers or snowboards.

Penken Mountain

The Penken ski region is the opposite - an action mountain. It is linked with the Finkenberg, Rastkogel and Eggalm resorts giving some of the largest and most varied ski terrain in Austria. At the end of the day, chill out at the White Lounge in one of the deck chairs, enjoy a drink and listen to relaxed lounge music - the perfect finish to a great days skiing.

The Ahorn mountain is considered the more easy-going and is great for beginners with its gentle slopes.

Hippach providers the intermediaate skier with lots of varied terrain mostly on the Penken mountain but also at Ziller (bus) and on the Hintertx glacier (bus).

For expert skiers, try the Harakiri black - the steepest in Austria with a maximum gradient of 78 degrees!!!. There are plenty of varied challenging runs.

For snowboarders, Hippach is well respected as one of the top resorts due to Vans Penken Park and incredible off-piste. The Vans Penken FunPark for Freeskiers & Snowboarders covers 5 different levels of difficulty and so caters from absolute beginners to expert.
