Ski holidays at the The Nevis Range -just 7 miles outside of Fort William on the mountain of Aonach Mor in the Highlands of Scotland. These mountains have some of the heaviest rainfall in Scotland which means during the winter months, it usually has the best snow conditions giving some fantastic skiing.
Fort William is a major tourist centre with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the north and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. It is an important centre for skiing, hillwalking and climbing due to being near Ben Nevis and many other Munro mountains, marketing itself as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK".
Nevis Range ski area guide
The Nevis Range has 12 lifts, including Scotland 's only mountain gondola, which transports you effortlessly in just 12 minutes from the car park to 650m, where you will find the Snowgoose Mountain Restaurant and the main ski area.
With an uplift capacity of 9,600 per hour you can expect minimal lift queues. At the top gondola station you’ll also find easy mountain walks to stunning viewpoints, a children’s playpark and a gift shop. There is also a Snowsports School offering lessons at all levels and you can hire skis and snowboards as well as warm jackets and trousers on site.

Beginners
The beginner's area is literally a stone throw away from the top station, with a variety of easy green and blue runs for you to gain your confidence and improve your skills.
Intermediate
For intermediates, the Nevis Range is an ideal resort. The runs are predominately wide and open with some challenging blue and red runs in the main Snowgoose bowl.
Advanced
For the more advanced skier, there are some extensive off-piste black and red runs. The Nevis Range have kept their biggest secret very quiet, so quiet that only a handful of people know about what the 'back bowls' have to offer and how to get in and out.
Opening up the Back Corrie with the Braveheart Chair has expanded the skiable area considerably, providing intermediate and experienced skiers/boarders with an off-piste expanse, unrivalled anywhere else in Scotland!
Winter climbing
The Mountain of Aonach Mor is part of the range of mountains that includes Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg. The two main climbing areas are Coire an Lochain and the West Face. Given their altitude they offer some of the most reliable winter climbing in Scotland.
Snowboard
Snowboarders are in for a treat at the Nevis ange. At the summit (1221m), there is a state-of-the-art terrain park that rivals some of the best in Europe with beginner’s rails to expert s-rails and kickers!
Things to see & do around Nevis
Ice climbing is very popular at The Nevis Range with the main attraction being the 700m high cliffs on the north face. These are some of the highest cliffs in the UK presenting challenges of all levels.

Featured holiday rentals around Ben Nevis
There is no accommodation in Nevis Range as this is the ski base station. However, many of the self catering cottages can be found in near by Fort William which is a few miles drive away.

Skiing in the Nevis Range - not the Alps or Canadian Rockies but certainly a superb adventure resort for any time of year with some excellent off-piste touring options in the back bowls for good intermediate to advanced skiers and boarders. A few suggestions...
