The Meiringen Hasliberg mountain railway can be reached in 10 minutes. So is the station of the Meiringen-Innertkirchen railway, which takes you to other attractions such as the Aare Gorge. The funicular railway to the Reichenbach Falls is also in the immediate vicinity (Sherlock Holmes).
In summer there are many hiking opportunities. Just 10 km away is the village of Brienz with Lake Brienz and the steam railway to the Rothorn, as well as the Ballenberg open-air museum in Switzerland. By car you can quickly reach Lucerne, Interlaken or over the Susten Pass into the canton of Uri and over the Grimsel Pass into Valais.
