Mt Baker trail map Skiing & snowboarding around the trails of Mt Baker
Mt. Baker in the Snoqualmie National Forest is a ski mountain and attracts skiers who love deep powder. The mountain regularly gets annual dumps of over 20m during the ski season!
There are adequate slopes for beginners and intermediates although not as extensive as some of the larger resorts that you will find in the Colorado Rockies or around Lake Tahoe.
However, Mt Baker punches well above its weight when it comes to off piste terrain with deep powder bowls, chutes and cliffs. One look at the Mt Baker trail map shows the extent of the back-country terrain. One of the favourite trails is the descent from Shuksan Arm. It can be reached from the top of chair 8 - famous for its very deep powder, snorkel and mask are required!
Ski Touring Trails
As well as extensive back-country terrain around the main ski areas, the ski touring possibilities are numerous. The ski touring season extends into late June and early July when the glacier passes above 7000 feet are safe to cross.
