Ovronnaz ski resort guide & reviews Ski area, apres-ski, things to see & do in Ovronnaz

Resort Review

Ovronnaz is a picturesque hamlet 10 km off the motorway, nestling at the foot of the Muverans mountain range that backs on to the Mont Blanc Massif. A quaint all year round family resort.

But, don't be fooled by it's quaintness! Ovronnaz punches well above it's weight when it comes to the skiing and when it comes to the apres-ski - lively, sporty and fun is how we would describe it.

Ovronnaz has managed to retain its authentic character despite the increase in tourism but at the same time, has invested in the infrastructure giving a fast and efficient lift system.

Wellness & Spa

Ovronnaz has a sophisticated wellness & spa centre with an outdoor thermal springs pool to relax in - quite similar to Leukerbad.

Beginners

For the complete beginner, there are some excellent nursery at the base of the main ski lift and after that, a few blue pistes but not much more for the total beginner.

Intermediate

The local area will keep you occupied for a few days but then it is worth venturing to the other side of the motorway and access the 4 valleys area where steeper and more challenging runs can be found especially around Mont Gele and La Chaux at the Verbier end.

Advanced

For the advanced skier - the 4 valleys is absolute heaven. The unmarked and ungroomed trails are amazing, not just for the scenery but because they are seriously challenging. Off-piste touring is extensive with a guide and you can also stay over night in one of the mountain refuges that can be arranged through the Tourist Office.

Snowboarding

There is one snow park that is equipped for beginners and experts.

Ovronnaz is a fantastic ski resort that's getting a big reputation for being great fun on and off the piste. A suggestions for your ski holiday...

  • For a full days skiing or boarding, head over to Nendaz and make your way over to Verbier for lunch. Just remember to leave sufficient time to get back as taxis will be very expensive
  • In summer or winter, a good day out is a visit to the underground lake of St-Lennard in Sion
