Praz sur Arly ski resort guide Ski area, apres-Ski, things to see & do in Praz sur Arly

Resort review

Praz sur Arly is a superb little ski resort nestled in the Val d’Arly between the chic resort of Megeve and the village of Le Flumet in the Haute Savoie region. Sitting on the River Arly, surrounded by mountain peaks and pine forests, you can enjoy extensive skiing in winter and relaxing walks in the summer.

The emphasis in Praz sur Arly is definitely on the family, with a laidback atmosphere and lots of facilities for families, especially during school holiday periods, where there are activities and events every day and evening.

Après-ski

There are several local restaurants and bars for early après ski in the village but don't expect a riotous nightlife. However, Megeve is just a few minutes drive away which offers a large selection of bars and restaurants and has a lively and sophisticated night life.

The skiing in Praz sur Arly goes from 1000m to 2070m, so to ensure the snow on the bottom sections, the station has invested in lots of snow canons. To keep you amused there are also three slalom stadiums and three boarder parks in the whole Espace Diamant area.

Beginners

Overall, the ski area lends itself more to the beginner and intermediate level of skier or boarder, but there is still enough to keep everyone happy.

Intermediate

The recently built Les Trois Coins draglift makes it easy to ski clockwise around the whole of the Espace Diamant area, with access to Notre Dame de Bellecombe much quicker. For the best views of Mont Blanc, we suggest heading up to Banc Rouge summit next to this draglift. At 1983m the panoramic views on a blue sky day will take your breath away.

Advanced

If you’re keen to try out the black runs, head over to La Legette area and if you want to get some powder skiing in you can, it’s not very steep, so ideal for the first foray into off piste. There are also lots of delightful tree runs where you’ll find yourself swooshing along forest trails lined with pine trees.
