One of the best ski areas close to Sankt Leonhard is on the Pitztal Glacier which is just 18kms away and serviced by a free ski bus from the village. The Pitztal glacier piste map shows there are 41 km of ski trails flowing from the glacier down to the Rifflsee ski resort.

The trails are suitable to all levels of skier and boarder from complete beginner to experts and there are also 12kms of high altitude cross-country trails which you normally find in the valley.

The Pitztal glacier piste map also shows a high altitude ski tour trail. Starting from the top of the Gletscher Express lify at 2840m, its a 3 hour climb using skins and occasionally crampons, to the top of Wildspitze at 3774m. The off-piste trail down is incredible taking you beside ceracs and forests until you reach the valley.
