St Gilgen sits on the shores of Lake Wolfgang, one of the largest lakes in the Salzkammergu and is surrounded by the spectacular Salzkammergul mountain range. It has been attracting tourists for generations and is a fantastic destination for relaxing and exploring this stunning part of Austria.
St Gilgen is one of it's main resorts and is a cosy, family friendly holiday village just a few minutes from the shore and just 29km south east of Salzburg making very short transfer times. The village is very busy throughout the year and especially during the winter when you can ski on the Zwolferhorn.

Apart from skiing, there are plenty of other things to see and do in St Gilgen and the area around Lake Wolfgang. One of the most popular is to take a ride to the top of the Schafbergspitze on the steepest steam rack train railway in Austria. From the top, you have 360 ° panoramic views of the Salzkammergut lakes including Wolfgangsee, Mondsee, Fuschl and Lake Chiemse.e

Our view on St Gilgen ski holidays
We think St Gilgen is a beautiful lakeside resort and packed with activities throuhout the year for all the family. A great spot to use as a base for exploring the other wonderful valleys, lakes and skiing on the Zwolferhorn and the other resorts of the Salzkammergut region.
