Ski guiding & touring around Châtel
To experience the full extent of what Châtel has to offer, why not try some ski touring. Expert local guides will navigate you around the high mountain trails in safety taking you on an adventure around the off-piste tours of the Portes du Soleil. Whilst not technically difficult, the sheer amount of skiing required to get around the whole circuit makes this ski tour suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers - that is, if you want to get back to your resort before the lifts close!
You can go round the Portes du Soleil circuit in either direction but the easiest starting point is to head up to Super Châtel and make your way to Portes de Culet above Morgins. At this point, you have spectacular views of the Dents du Midi before dropping down in to Switzerland. The Swiss sector is less crowded and you pass through the rustic village of Champoussin and the ski-in, ski-out resort of Les Crosets.
From there, the ski tour takes you on to the beautiful village of Champery and towards The Wall, the steepest run in the Portes du Soleil, bringing you back in to France. The last leg of the circuit takes you to Avoriaz from where you drop down in to Morzine and head back to Châtel. A long day but well worth it.
