How to get to Garmisch

Transfers to Garmisch-Partenkirchen - with an excellent motorway connection, several international airports under 2 hours away and great rail links, getting to Garmisch is easy.

By plane

You can fly to either Munich, Stuttgart, Memmingen, Innsbruck or Zurich. Airport transfers may be booked from the airports to Garmisch or alternatively, there is the local bus or train options.

Munich airport is only 120km from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck airport is even closer at just 60km giving a transfer time of just under 1 hour.

By car

If you are travelling from the north, you take the Motorway A95 and when you come to the end, take the main road B2 sign-posted "Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen". Exit at B23 and follow the directions to Augsburg – Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Coming from the south, take the A12/E60 Inntal Motorway, then the B2/E533 and follow the directions to Mittenwald - Klais - Kaltenbrunn and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

By Train

German Rail offers a fast, attractive and environmentally friendly way of travelling to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. On weekends, direct express connections arrive from Hamburg, Dortmund and Cologne. A regional train runs hourly from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Getting around in Garmisch-Partenkirchen without a car is also easy with the Kurkarte (spa-card) that allows you to travel for free on the local buses.
