Sallanches sits at 558m close to the entrance to the spectacular Chamonix Valley, the home of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain at 4,810m. Whilst Sallanches is not known for its downhill skiing, it is just 10 minutes drive to the first of the Chamonix Valley resorts - Les Houches. Further up the valley, you will come to Chamonix and the cable cars that carry you up to the Aiguille du Midi at 3,842 and across the glacier to Italy.
Summer is very popular attracting tourists who come for the hiking, mountain biking and to walk the beautiful Gorges de la Diosaz. Plus if you like spas, the wellness centre at Saint Gervais Les Bains 6kms away is a must.

Our view on Sallanches
We think Sallanches is a great resort for family holidays any time of year. A very pretty alpine village allowing easy access to the Chamonix Valley as well as Megeve and Saint Gervais les Bains, Sallanches offers easy access to some of France's finest ski resorts during the winter such as Chamonix and Argentiere while during the summer, there are countless activities from relaxing at the nearby spas to adrenaline fueled white water rafting.
