Sun Peaks ski area guide
Canada's second largest ski area with over 4200 acres, Sun Peaks delivers 126 pistes, 822m of vertical and 14 tree gladed areas that cater for all levels of skier and boarder. The skiing takes place over 3 peaks...Sundance Mountain where you will discover perfectly groomed runs, Tod Mountain with it's wide-open bowls and rabbit runs through the forest and then south facing Mount Morrisey which has all types of terrain.
Beginners
Sun Peaks is perfectly set up for beginners with around 10% of the terrain graded as "green".
After learning the basics, you can go practically anywhere on the mountain as the green and blue pistes are well connected and at the top of each lift, you have a choice of beginner, intermediate or advanced pistes - one of the many reasons why Sun Peaks gets good reviews when it comes to family skiing.
Intermediate
Over half the pistes are designed for intermediate skiers and snowboarders with long cruising blue trails with many taking you through gladed forests plus the powder bowls on Tod mountain.
What is even more impressive is the ease in which you can explore the spectacular scenery and deep snow in the back-country areas off the side of Mount Tod without the fear of getting lost or falling off a cliff!
Advanced
There is an awful lot of advanced terrain to explore around the 3 peaks and especially around the top of Tod mountain where the mogul fields can be challenging. Other black pistes are accessible from Sunburst, Crystal, Burfield, and Morrisey chair lifts.
Cross-country
Sun Peaks has over 30km of Nordic trails for all abilities with easy access from the village accommodation. The Morrisey Express Chairlift takes you up to the Holy Cow trails and the amazing back-country terrain. There is also a pet-friendly route to McGillivray Lake Outpost where you can take in the magnificent views before an easy glide back to the village.
Snowboarding and heli-skiing
The Rockstar Energy Terrain Park is the place to head to if you like jumps, rails and kickers and is the place people go to for a drink and listen to the music.
For more adrenaline action, why not try some heli-skiing. This is the ultimate ride surfing deep virgin champagne powder in the wilderness of the vast back-country.
Sun Peaks lodging
With over 7,000 tourist beds in Sun Peaks Village there is a wide selection of lodging options from ski-in/ski-out condos, lodges and town houses to chocolate-box ski chalets.

A superb resort for all the family with many things to see and do no matter what age. A few suggestions for your ski holidays...
- On those bad weather days where skiing is not an option or you want to try something different, there is ice skating, snowcat rides, aquatic centre, dog sleigh rides and even organised shopping trips to Kamloops
- Snowshoeing is getting more popular and is a great way to explore the mountain at a more sedate pace
- Try out some of the treatmets at one of the spa and wellness centres
- Given the huge ski area, a quick way to get your bearings is to try the “Three Mountain Tour”. The tour is nearly 27km and covers 2,735 vertical metres on the best trails over each of the peaks
