Park City Mountain ski resort guide Ski area, apres-ski, things to see & do in Park City

Overview

As one of the venues for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Park City Mountain Resort has everything you could wish for on and off the slopes. The resort is known for being extremely family friendly, easy to get around on foot and caters for all levels of skier and boarder. Once a frontier mining town, Park City is not just a winter playground but also home to the Sundance film festival held during January - the second largest in the world!

Après-ski

Main Street is the hub of the resort with boutiques, saloon bars and restaurants that have managed to retain their traditional look and feel whilst offering state of the art facilities and services. For early apres-ski, you can ski down the Quit 'N Time or Creole runs at the end of the day where you'll find several lively bars.

Childcare

Ski schools take children from the age of 3 1/2 years but if you have toddlers, there are several day care centres to choose from such as Monkey Mountain that look after children from 6 months old. For baby sitting, ParkCity Sitters provide in-room baby-sitting services - this needs to be booked in advance.

Beginners

Crescent Mountainzone is the gateway to the slopes, providing access to over 2,000 acres of skiing and riding terrain and home to the main nursery slopes.

After learning the basics, beginners can try the 5km Homerun from the summit of the Silverlode/Bonanza Mountainzone - skiing right down the mountain to the village.

Intermediate

The King Con Mountainzone provides the most intermediate terrain on the mountain, including the new Neff Land terrain park and Merrill Mini 13 halfpipe.

Advanced

With new snow, experts tend to head to the Jupiter Mountainzone where there is plenty of backcountry off-piste trails, wide-open meadows, challenging chutes and big powder stashes - most of these require a short hike from the Jupiter lift.

The other area for experts is Thaynes/Motherlode Mountainzone.

Snowboarding

The Crescent Mountainzone is home to the Eagle Superpipe and 3 Kings terrain park which allows you to ski under floodlights during the evenings. The other terrain parks are located at King Con Mountainzone and PayDay/Town Mountainzone.

Park City Mountain lodging

There is a wide selection of self catering rental accommodation from condos and chalets to luxury lodges. Some of the vacation rentals at the base of the mountain are ski-in, ski-out which is ideal for families wanting to avoid the ski bus.
