Söll ski area guide
The ski area is the second largest in Austria with 284kms of lift-linked pistes and caters for all levels of skier and snowboarder.
The ski season normally starts early December and runs to early April. The snow can be hit and miss though and due to the resorts low level, can be an issue early and late season. If the weather comes in from Russia, the snow conditions can be some of the best in the Alps. Unfortunately, this doesnt happen that often. Thankfully, there are lots of snowcannons that cover 80% of the pistes so you can be confident that most of the pistes will be open.
Beginners
Söll has gentle nursery slopes on the edge of the village where beginners learn the basics. From there, the gondola takes you up to Höhe Salve which is the gateway to the SkiWelt carousel. Off the gondola, there are several green and connecting blue pistes which means beginners can enjoy top of the mountain skiing.
Intermediate
Söll is an intermediates paradise with a good blend of wide sweeping blues and reds. Try the 7.3km red Valley run from the Hohe Salvedown to Söll with a vertical of 1,126m or for more challening reds, try the pistes from the mid-stations that flow into Brixen and Westendorf.
Advanced
There are not that many black pistes but of the ones that there are, such as the runs from Hohe Salve, they are challenging. The steepest black is on a par with the 70% gradient of the terrifying Harakiri run in Mayrhofen. Off the pistes, ski touring is a great way to explore the SkiWelt and with a guide, will take you in to steep and deep untracked powder bowls.
Cross-country
Söll has 70km of beautiful scenic trails for cross-countryskiing. The cross-country trails from Söll make their way along the foot of the Wilder Kaiser to the villages of Going, Ellmau and Scheffau. Most are relatively flat and are superbly prepared with fabulous views of the Kaiser mountain range. What's more, in Scheffau you'll find 1.2km of floodlit trails, open until 9.30pm every evening.
Snowboard
Söll has its own park below Hochsöll with beginner and intermediate lines and many different features. There’s also a Funslope with two lines of banked curves, jumps, boxes and a tunnel; it’s floodlit for night riding four days a week.

Children
The Kinder-Kornkammer Söll kids club is situated at the base of the village gondola and is operated by the Söll-Hochsöll ski school. The club is open every day except Saturday from 9.30am-12pm and 1.30-4pm. Your children can also be looked after at lunchtime between 12-1.30pm and includes lunch.
Featured ski chalets
The accommodation in Söll is plentiful with most of it in and around the centre of the village. This has the convenience of the local shops and being able to walk back after the apres-ski. However, the village is a short bus ride away from the lifts which tends to get packed. Walking to the slopes is possible but its a good 10-15 minute and not easy in boots carrying skis.
