Beginners

If you are starting out your ski career, Vogel is an ideal resort. There are the gentle nursery slopes at Soriška Planina for your first lessons before progressing up the mountain.

Vogel also offers activities for kids in the snow park with its two Magic Carpet ski lifts (60m and 20m) and sledging. The snow park is at the top of the cable.

Vogel is definitely geared towards the intermediate skier and boarder with many options from the top of the cable car. A great run is the 7.5 km red that takes you all the way down to the Lake at 569m, snow permitting.

Advanced

There are a couple of black pistes to test the advanced skiers but thats about it unless you hire a local guide and do some off-piste back-country touring.

Vogel accommodation

Many people opt to stay lakeside and "commute" up to the ski resorts which has the advantage that you can choose where to ski especially if the conditions are better in one or the other resorts.

There is a wide choice of accommodation around the many villages that make up Lake Bohinj such as Stara Fuzina and Studor which have the full range of hotels and holiday rental accommodation.

It is also possible to stay in Vogel where you can choose the Vogel hotel or rent a chalets or apartments. At 1535m, snow is virtually guaranteed giving ski-in, ski-out possibilities.

Our view on ski holidays in Vogel - Lake Bohinj

We think it's no surprise that Vogel and Lake Bohinj are popular for family ski holidays. The terrain is gentle yet varied enough for good intermediates and off the slopes, there is a good balance between vibrant nightlife and quieter, more family-orientated cafes and eateries so you have the choice of both worlds.

A similar ski resort to Vogel is the lakeside resort of Are in Sweden.
